Barbecued Spareribs Recipe


  • 1 (8 oz.) can (1 c.) tomato sauce with chopped onion

  • 1/3 c. brown sugar

  • 1/3 c. bottled steak sauce

  • 1/3 c. cooking oil

  • 1/4 c. vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp. salt

  • 4 lbs. spareribs 


Combine all ingredients, except spareribs.   Season ribs with a little additional salt.  Place bone side down on grill over slow coals.  Grill about 20 minutes.  Turn meaty side down and grill till browned.  Turn meaty side up; grill 20 minutes more.  Brush meaty side with barbecue sauce.  Continue grilling without turning for 20 to 30 minutes more or till meat is tender, basting occasionally with sauce.  Makes 4 servings.
